Hirst Welfare Community Café – Affordable Food, Friendly Faces, and a Warm Welcome
Our Community Café is a welcoming, inclusive space located right at the heart of Hirst Welfare Centre.
Open Monday to Friday 9.30am - 2pm, it’s a place where everyone is welcome – whether you’re calling in for breakfast, stopping by for lunch, or simply fancy a cuppa and a bit of company.
We serve freshly prepared, affordable meals and drinks, with options to suit all ages. Whether it’s a full cooked breakfast, a sandwich and soup, or just tea and toast, we aim to keep our prices low and the atmosphere relaxed. You don’t need to book or be part of a group – just come in and make yourself at home.
The café is also part of the Warm Space initiative, meaning anyone can drop in, stay warm, and feel supported – no need to spend if you don’t want to. We know that for many, a friendly face and a safe, welcoming environment can make all the difference.
It’s a space for casual catch-ups, friendly chats, and quiet moments. You’re welcome to pick up a book from our community library, bring a newspaper, or just take some time out of a busy day. The café is regularly used by local residents, families, older adults, and Centre users, and the atmosphere reflects that: down-to-earth, friendly, and community led.
All profits from the café are reinvested into the wider work of Hirst Welfare Centre, helping us to keep supporting local people and providing vital community services.
So whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, pop in, grab a seat, and enjoy some good food and good company – you’ll always find a warm welcome waiting.
