Welcome to Hirst Welfare Centre

Hirst Welfare is more than just a Community Centre – it’s a shared space for the people of Ashington and the wider area. A place where everyone’s welcome, no matter their age or background.

From early years and youth activities to local groups, fitness, friendship and support – everything we do is about bringing people together and making a difference close to home.

We’re proud to be part of this community, and we’re here to listen, support and grow with you. Whether you’re joining a group, popping into the café, or just looking for somewhere to feel connected – you’ll always find a warm welcome here.

This is your space. Your ideas, your community, your Hirst Welfare.

Community Bingo

Monday's 6.30pm - 8.30pm - Join us for a relaxed and friendly evening of community bingo, hosted by Talking Marras. It’s a great way to unwind, have a laugh, and enjoy some time with others in a welcoming space.

Level Headers Recreational Football

Friday's 12pm - 1.30pm - Join us for an introduction to recreational football. This is aimed to get men active through playing football, and talking about their mental health. This will be followed by our Talking Heads session and some refreshments.

Talking Marras

Fridays 10am - 2pm - Talking Marras is a welcoming peer support group that’s been running since 2018. It was started by local people who wanted to stay connected after another group came to an end – and it’s grown into a supportive, friendly community.

Wansbeck Community Links - Wellbeing Coffee Mornings

Wednesday's 9.30am - 11.30am - A warm and friendly weekly drop-in offering gentle activities, conversation, and connection. Enjoy board games, crafts, table tennis, seated exercise, and themed events – all with free coffee and a relaxed atmosphere.
